West High NHS Announces 2018 Inductees
The West High National Honor Society will be welcoming at least 23 new members this spring. Advisor Paul Wanger surprised the inductees with the news during 4th block on Friday, April 6th.
He embarrassed the kids with a speech on their attributes in front of their classmates, then let them pick a candy bar to celebrate. "These students not only show their own scholarship, leadership, service and character, but they also reflect OUR encouragement and
teaching," Wanger said in an email announcing the incoming members. "Congratulations on another group of NHS inductees!"
To be a member of the National Honor Society, students must be a Junior or Senior, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better, fill out an application and get a letter of recommendation attesting to not only their academic ability, but their leadership and community involvement.
The Pioneer Chapter of the NHS will formally induct its new members on Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30 pm in the Link at West High.
