Why You Should Take the Act

Story by: Karleigh Johnson

Despite the stress that can occur before, and during, the ACT, its impact will be
rewarding for students planning to pursue higher education.

However, it is important that high school students take the ACT BEFORE the fall semester of their senior year. This is because a majority of scholarships have set their application deadlines to the autumn season.

There are a vast amount of resources available to students to help with their preparation for the ACT, such as:

*Two FREE ACT waivers (only applies to students qualified for free or reduced lunch)
*ACT prep and practice on the official ACT app (included with the ACT fee waiver)
     *Mrs. Cousins in J-21

Furthermore, the higher the ACT score, the highest composite score achievable being 36, the more money that can be earned from scholarships, which can ease the potential burden of paying for a college education. But never fear! There are ways for making the ACT easier, which can be found in West High's next magazine issue on Wichita West Pioneer Word.
