Wichita West High defeats South in Tri-County League Basketball

Pioneers Down the Titans 48-20 In the first game of the 2018 Tri-County League Basketball season, the Wichita West I-Hall Pioneers defeated the Wichita South Titans with a final score of 48 to 20. The West High athletes were excited to get to play in front of their home crowd today. Students crowded into the bleachers cheering and hollering for the Pioneers as they cruised to a victory. Some even brought signs to wave. The league is made up of student athletes with special needs from five Wichita high schools and other high schools in the metro area. Dance The Night Away By Kylee Hinkle Saturday April 7, 2018, West High held the annual Junior and Senior Prom. The hall ways of L and M hall were decorated with pretty lights and amazing artwork to bring a feeling that we weren't in a school hallway. Ms. Wright did a wonderful job at creating a beautiful prom! These are just a few of the students who attended prom Saturday night.

West High's 2018 National Honor Society Induction and Farewell

Story by Karleigh Johnson Left to right: Destiny Reicher, Paul Wanger, Sarah Powell (Courtesy of Destiny Reicher) Last Tuesday, the Pioneer Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed 24 new members. To become members, students in grades 10-12 were selected as potential candidates based on the Society's requirement of a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.5. These students were then required to retrieve a transcript to prove their G.P.A., turn in a letter of recommendation, and have five surveys completed to prove their character- four of which were to be preformed by adults that knew the student, and the fifth being the student's own evaluation. After this, a small committee then reviewed the information the student provided, and decided whether the student showed the qualities of a successful NHS member.
