Winter Storm Ices Over West High

Brrrrrr.  A cold front slid through Wichita early Thursday morning.  West High photographers Bri Thompson and Levan Howard braved the chill to bring you a look at what the storm left behind.  Between icy streets and cold temps only about two thirds of students came to school today.  This was the first real winter storm of 2018.

Freezing rain that hit cars coated them in a shell of ice.  Other rain fell as ice granules to the ground.  It was all slippery.

The good news, once it warms up, it won't take long for the ice to melt away.  Students hope that happens soon!
