Long-Distance Relationships

Are They Worth It?

Story By Karleigh Johnson

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner,  it’s hard to imagine there are people who won’t be able to see their significant other on the day of love. This is due to the fact that there are over 7 million couples in a long-distance relationship, according to Dr. Guldner at The Center for the Study of Long Distance Relationships, a division of JF Milne Publications.

Long-distance relationships were not uncommon throughout the past. In fact, many long-distance relationships (LDRs for short) were, and still are, military related. However, in the digital age, nearly one-third of the 14 million Americans in an LDR are in college.

With many controversies regarding LDRs continuing to surface as the number of couples involved in this type of relationship increases, it’s hard not to wonder if a long distance relationship will actually thrive.
