As the alerts for "cancelled school" were spread throughout the City of Wichita, students and teachers alike began rejoicing for their well-deserved day off.

On February 22nd, USD 259 granted students a day out of harm's way as the district cancelled school due to harsh weather. Many students immediately began planning their adventures for the day.

Some scholars attending West High School decided to take a minute to finish their past due assignments or rush to put the final touches on their senior projects.

While others such as Senior Jade Colby decided to enjoy an old childhood movie with her older brother.

Other students and teachers chose to catch up on some needed "Z's" and hang out with friends and family.

Regardless of their desired activity it is important to remember why this day was cancelled. According to The Weather Channel, Wichita's temperature is only 33 degrees Fahrenheit with winds up to 3 MPH. So make sure to bundle up and drive safe.  Most important, have a wonderful one day weekend!  See you back in classes Friday!
